How do we make inferences?

Inferehce is making a guess or reading between the lines. Melinda titles her page "Our teachers are the best." Then she goes on to describe her English teacher as being weird. She has black and orange hair that makes her look like an emerging monarch butterfly. Melinda doesn't really mean her teacher are the best. She means the opposite.

What is the author's purpose?

The author is writing from a ninth grader' s point of view in the book, "Speak." The author Ms. Anderson, tries to show the loneliness of a student who called the cops and busted-up a summer party. Melinda, the main character is being avoided by her friends. Melinda would really like to tell Rachel what really happened the night of the party but she can' t.

The First Book

I'm reading "Speak" by Laurie Halse Anderson. The first few pages are about the first day of school. The girl, Melinda Sordino, is the first pick up on the school bus. She decides to sit in the front in hope of making eye contact with a friend. No one wants to sit next to her. She feels all alone.

yesterday we read about the anniversary cat in the hat tt was written fifty years ago in 1958. An editor of life magazine bet theodore seuss geise that he coaidn t write a book asing oniy 236 words that was the namber of wofds in a first grade primer he did it to the amazemen t of the editor and it became popalar all over the world he wrote many more books to help childreh to learn how to read and to love it.

I went to Pennsylvania to visit my brother-in-law's family. I played video games and watched television. It was real quiet there.
